A Father's Sacrifice: He Hikes Everyday To Feed His Family

No mountain too high for a father's love on his family. No effort too demanding. No price can pay. A father's devotion to take care of his family can go to any length no matter what it takes.

A poor old father with his wooden cane and a handful of bag, opens his journey of how he does his duties as a father to his family on the day of January 3, 2015 in Barangay Tiguib, Ayungon. Everyday, he has to hike a path being surrounded by big rocks and a body of water for 30 minutes excluding the other 30 minutes from the highway. He passes through it in order to feed his family. It is so sad to know that he has to experience it everyday. The kind of struggle he has to encounter is basically difficult for him. It is to consider that he is already old enough to be doing it but he is father who will do anything for his daughter, for his family. 

At the end of road, comes a small house where his family lives. Although they live in a place far from civilization, he has managed to have a place called home for his family. It may not be that big enough to accommodate them but it can suffice as a shelter.

Not all fathers can do such act. Not all fathers can sacrifice that much. This old man who never gets tired of walking such distance to feed his family deserves the respect and love of everyone. That's why through God's blessings, a group of kindhearted people helps in building a new home for the family. All of them are helping hand in hand building a house that is much better for the family to stay. When the house is completed, they start to relocate his family by carrying them while the old man joins the group as they hike their way out. As they reach their new home, the family is delighted by such surprise and goodness from the people.

The sudden turn of events of their lives has brought joy in their faces. As the family starts to settle down in their home, they welcome the group with smiles. They live in a place which is much cooler than before. They have neighbors and are close to water resources. 

Thanks to those people have extended their arms to give his family a home. They have shown that poverty is not a lack of resources but a lack of sharing and caring. If everyone of us will reach out to the poor then someday we can make this world a better place. 

In a conversation with those people, the old man has said, "As a parent, I couldn't dare to leave them. Do you dare to leave them knowing they are your children? It is very shameful in your personality. It's better for me if I wasn't born."

We don't get to meet this devoted father everyday. Only a few can be able to do such thing for his family. His sacrifice for his family only comes from a man who loves his family more than anything in this world. He is great father and a one of a kind.
