The Eerie Story Behind the Mysterious Death of Elisa Lam

We thought the eeriest of things only happen in fictions; in horror movies. However, on the February of 2013, the mysterious disappearance of 23 year-old Elisa Lam has proven us that nightmares can turn into reality.

Elisa Lam was staying at Hotel Cecil (known for suicides and murder cases) in Los Angeles, California when she went missing for two weeks. Later on, guests of the hotel began complaining about the foul taste and the discoloration of water.

Hotel staff then decided to check the water tank at the hotel's rooftop to find out the cause of the guests complaints about the water and found a disturbing answer as to why.

Authorities found the naked and decaying body of Elisa Lam inside the water tank. An autopsy has been made by the L.A. Country Department of Coroner and reports state the cause of her death was an accidental drowning.

But as to how Elisa has managed to open the water tank when there was no easy access to the sealed tank remains a huge mystery to the case even to this day.

A rundown to security camera recordings has also been carried out and Elisa's bizarre behavior can be seen on the footage moments before she went missing. This adds more to theories that the paranormal lead her to her death, while some say that her baffling actions are due to psychotic episodes.
