For the past eight years, struggled to support his studies while in college at Saint Louis University in Baguio, Howard Chan was a hardworking student. He works as a service crew in a fast food chain at the same time a house painter in a local real estate company to pursue his dream to become a successful lawyer. Working in fast food chains is typical but stressful and difficult for the reason of demands of customers.
Aside from being service crew and house painter, he also took other job like teaching that leads him in quitting his first two jobs. He was tutoring Koreans to support his studies. There comes a time that he borrowed money from his girlfriend to be able to take his final exam for the first semester. But after that, he stopped from studying, realizing that he can't sustain his law studies with tutoring. So he worked as a call center agent for two years and anticipated to continue his law school at College of Law of the University of the Cordilleras. He keep his self as a working student.
But his story doesn't end there, because he had a major problem during his final exam on second semester. His father died, causes him to stay out of focus and failed an exam. He was required to transfer to another law school, he eventually enrolled at University of Baguio (where he finished law). His struggles at work increase to the stress of his father's death. Then the account of the call center he was working for was dispersed, he was transferred to the financial account where he finds difficulties because most of the customers are irate. His stress push to the limit so he decided to resign and look for another job. A friend propose him to online jobs and he became a virtual assistant, that leads to sustain his remaining years in law school until he graduates.
After all those hardships he went through, he still can't believe that he finally made it. He was very thankful for the experiences that make him more stronger and value the life by looking to it differently. Upon by achievement in his dream being a lawyer, his other goal is to become "judicious and moral lawyer". He said 'equity aids the vigilant.' Our duty as lawyers and as agents of justice is to be vigilant for others especially those who are meek who cannot fight for their own. Howard Chan is hoping to be an agent of change.
